We are excited to announce that the YMCA of Great Grand Rapids will host GR GiveCamp 2009 at the David D. Hunting YMCA facility located in the heart of downtown Grand Rapids. The David D. Hunting YMCA is LEED certified and is one of the largest urban Y’s in the nation with over 160,000 sq.ft of space. Since opening its doors in July 2005, the David D. Hunting YMCA has grown in membership from 9,000 to 18,000 and serves as a social center for the community of Grand Rapids.
GR GiveCamp 2009 will be in the Board Room and the Teen Center. The Board Room is about 3,000 sq.ft. and will be set up in round tables to allow groups to collaborate. The Teen Center is about 2,200 sq.ft and includes recreation equipment, meeting space and a computer lab with 6 stations. Off the two areas is a catering kitchen, to keep food warm and ice machine for those late night Mountain Dews!
GiveCamp volunteers will be able to use the lobby and locker facilities to take showers after 9:00PM. During the day, while the Y is open to the public, volunteers will be able to purchase day passes for only $5.00/day.
